Type Chain is a generator that draws a new typeface every time you click the Reload button (top right).
It's free to use, and does not use AI (artificial intelligence). The letterforms are drawn by hand and assembled procedurally. The same procedural seed always gives you the same typeface.
There are over 4.3 billion possible fonts to download — if you see one you like, I'd suggest downloading it or saving the URL with the seed link, as it is unlikely you'll see that exact combination of parameters again.
Everything runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored on a server, and a font you upload never leaves the machine you are sitting at.
All fonts that are compiled pass Fontspector testing and can be installed on your computer like a normal font.
Licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. Fonts you generate are yours to use and modify. A font sampled from one you uploaded is a different matter — that one stays under whatever licence its original carries, see the Terms for more information.
A macOS screensaver that draws Type Chain compositions from random seeds from the same engine.
Installing. Download the zip below, unzip it, and open the `.saver`. macOS asks whether to install it for you or for everyone, then opens System Settings on the Screen Saver pane with Type Chain selected.
Removing it. Right-click it in the Screen Saver list and choose Delete, or throw away the `.saver` from `~/Library/Screen Savers`.
